Chinese Gymnasts Controversey

I can't help but laugh at this whole controversy about members of the Chinese Gymnastics team obviously being under 16.  Personally, I'd be very surprised if they were a day over 12.  But so what?

In fact, I'll take it one step further.  If being an adult means you are two old to participate in an Olympic "sport" should it really be in the Olympics?  It's a freaking children's game.  I mean, if you're telling me that, given no rules, the best in the world at some "sport" are roughly between 12-15, and that 16-17 year olds are at some unfair disadvantage and over the hill, is this really an Olympic caliber event?

Please.  R. Kelly thinks this is ridiculous.

What's next, Jacks?  Jump Rope?  Red Rover?

Your Honor, I rest my case.  The Olympics have jumped the shark.

The Olympics Have Jumped The Shark

5 reasons why I just can't take the Olympics seriously anymore.

  • Synchronized Swimming (History of the World , Part 1 not withstanding)
  • Handball (what, no Dodgeball?)
  • Trampoline (does this require a comment?)
  • Table Tennis (where is the Foosball?)
  • Badminton (now, if it were Lawn Darts, I'd be all over it.)

No to mention every "sport" that requires judging.  What a mess.  They now allow slow-motion reply of the gymnastic sets for the judges.  Seriously?  How about something simple like if you can't stick you're landing, go home.

When the Opening Ceremonies are the best part of the games, they have finally jumped the shark.

Steve's Bar - PV

I just found a business card for a great little bar in Puerto Vallarta.  If you're ever down there, be sure to check it out.  It's called Steve's, and it's a great little sports bar.  We happenecd to be down there during football season, and they were gracious enough to hunt down the Charger's game for us and everything.  And their food is fantastic!  Don't miss the guacamole!
