So much for CD-Rs

So today, as part of the ongoing effort to begin to organize the mess that is the last 10 years of my life, I'm sifting through PILES of CDs and DVDs that have been lying around my office and garage for years.  However, I'm finding that a great many of these CD-Rs are just not readable any more.  What's even more depressing is that age doesn't seem to matter.  Discs from 2000 are working just fine, where as some from just 2006 are causing me all kinds of trouble.  And I have three optical drives, so it's definitely the media that is bad.

The primary goal here is to archive this data to my RAID array, and then toss the discs, but I'm afraid in many cases that won't be possible.  Looks like I'm going to lose even more of my life to procrastination.

This is going to be a year of very tough lessons.
